Rohit Sharma made the most of his promotion in Tests as an opener. After batting in the middle-order for nearly six years, Rohit Sharma finally opened the innings in the ongoing first Test against South Africa and made an instant impact. The right-handed batsman smashed a fine century on day one itself as India took command of the proceedings.

Rohit Sharma looked at ease while opening the batting after Virat Kohli won the toss and decided to bat first. Both Rohit Sharma and his opening partner Mayank Agarwal took their time early on before starting to play their shots. By the time the day was called off early due to rain, India were 202 for no loss with Rohit on 115 and Agarwal on 84.

While Agarwal looked very cautious, Rohit Sharma did not hesitate in playing the shots. The Mumbai stalwart reached his fifty inside the first session. He frequently danced down the pitch to the spinners, hitting five giant sixes. In addition, he also hit 12 fours. A top-edged lap-sweep for four off debutant Senuran Muthusamy brought up his fifty. The limited-overs captain reached his ton off just 154 balls shortly before the tea interval.

As soon as Rohit reached the triple-digit mark, his teammates, fans and others wished him. India leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal also followed suit and took to Twitter to congratulate his senior teammate. Chahal cheekily called Rohit the Real GOAT as he tweeted:

And it was enough for the fans to come up with different theories. But most of them thought that it was an apparent dig at Virat Kohli. The fans thought since Chahal was dropped for the last two T20I series, he took a dig at Kohli. Not only that, some users also warned him not to risk his career with such tweets.
