Team India will lock horns with New Zealand in the World Test Championship final in a week’s time. They have played some memorable cricket in recent times which has paved their path into the final. They beat teams like Australia and England after having a forgetful start to their WTC campaign. They lost a Test series against New Zealand to start their campaign.
India have named a well-rounded squad for their final against the Kiwis which will follow a five-match Test series against England in England. The Men in Blue beat England 3-1 in a four-match Test series earlier this year in home conditions. They had to win the series to make it to the final which they did in style.
Meanwhile, as a build-up to the WTC final, we take a look at three batsmen who have the highest average in Test wins for the country with a minimum of 1500 runs scored.
3 Batsmen With The Highest Average In Test Wins For India
Rohit Sharma – 66.65
The Hitman averages the best among the batsmen on the list. Not very long ago, he was unsure of his place in the Indian Test side. However, the World Test Championship was the breakthrough that he needed to come back.
He played the series as an opener and scored 1030 runs in 11 matches all batting at the top of the order. He boasts an average of 66.65 in Test wins for the country in a list with names like Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid.

Probably India’s most complete Test batsman Rahul Dravid boasted of an average of 65.78 in Test wins for the country within a parameter of a minimum of 1500 runs scored. He has scored 1000 plus runs in the format against England, Australia, and West Indies and boated the best average against Pakistan (78.57) in his career. Dravid has also played the second most Test matches for India (168) after Sachin Tendulkar’s 200.
He has been appointed as the head coach of the Indian team that will be traveling to Sri Lanka. The BCCI announced a 25-member squad on Thursday (June 10). He won the U-19 World Cup 2018 as a coach with the Indian team. He was also the batting coach during India’s 2014 tour to England.
Sachin Tendulkar- 61.93
Sachin Tendulkar is the final name on this elite list. He has an average of 61.93 in Test wins for the country. He holds the record for playing the most number of Test matches (200) and scoring the most number of runs (15921) in the format. He has also scored the most number of ODI runs(18426) in the history of the game and has the most ODI tons to his name as well (49).
He has 51 tons in Test cricket as well, the most by any batsman. Overall he has 100 international hundreds. There is no batting record that the Little Master has not achieved in his career. In his stellar 24-year career, he has been through highs and lows but the appetite to score runs was always there.
Only Indian skipper Virat Kohli is close to Tendulkar’s tally of 100 international hundreds. He has 70 international tons to his name (43) ODIs, (27) Tests.
