The Indian Premier League showcased the door to all other cricketing nations on forming their own franchise cricket league tournaments. Players playing the IPL have been teammates in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and vice versa. Inaugurated in 2008, the IPL continues to be the flag bearer behind the idea of coming up with franchise cricket leagues all around the globe, it is the most cash-rich league among all the leagues and into its 14th season. The Australian and Windies international have been teammates with Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL and St. Lucia Zouks in the CPL. Being banned from the IPL in 2018 for the ball-tampering scandal, Warner made his debut in the CPL that year. Previously both these players were teammates at SRH in 2014.

Sammy was released in 2015 as Warner continued to lead the team and led them to their maiden IPL title in 2016. He has also three Orange Caps with the side.
