Chennai Super Kings is the most successful franchise in the Indian Premier League if we take a look at the consistent shows throughout IPL history. Mitchell Santner is the first player in this list. In IPL 2019, Chennai Super Kings bought the Kiwi all-rounder ahead of IPL 2019 for Rs. 50 lakh. While it was an economical deal for CSK, Santner could not impressed with his either batting or bowling.

The left-arm spinner played 4 matches in IPL 2019 and could pick only 4 wickets. Moreover, he was able to score just 32 runs in the 2 matches he batted.

In the CSK vs MI IPL opener in IPL 2018, Kedar Jadhav played few good shots in the final over in spite of being injured to bag victory for CSK by just 1 wicket. The right-handed batsman was injured for the whole season and could not play any other match.

In the next two seasons, he totally failed with the bat. He scored just 162 runs in 14 matches in IPL 2019 and 62 runs in 8 matches in IPL 2020. In IPL 2019, Jadhav had an average of just 18 while in IPL 2020, he had an average of just 26.

Mark Wood might be a powerful bowler for England team at present but in IPL 2018, he totally failed while bowling for Chennai Super Kings. CSK spent a whopping Rs. 1.5 crore in IPL 2018 auction to purchase the English bowler.

However, in his first game itself, the right-arm pacer conceded 49 runs in his 4 overs at an economy of 12.25. Moreover, he also finished wicketless in the match. Due to his poor show, CSK did not play him in any of the games during the tournament.

Chennai Super Kings bought Harbhajan Singh in IPL 2018 at a price of Rs. 2 crore. He was part of Mumbai Indians in the previous seasons. However, Harbhajan Singh could not manage to come up with an impressive bowling show in IPL 2018. The right-arm spinner picked only 7 wickets in 13 matches.

He also bowled at an economy of 8.48. His best bowling figure in the season was just 2/22, which means he never managed to pick more than 2 wickets in any single match. CSK won the season in IPL 2018 but Harbhajan Singh did not emerged out as to as worthy as the franchise expected him to be.

Chennai Super Kings bought Sri Lankan cricketer Nuwan Kulasekara for Rs. 75 lakh in IPL 2012 auction. The right-arm pacer played 5 matches in the tournament for CSK, but could only managed to pick 4 wickets.

In one of the matches out of 5, he was not even allowed to bowl a single over by the team. As he failed to deliver with the ball, the franchise did not pick him in the playing XI in the rest of the matches. Moreover, he was dropped by the franchise in the next season.
