The T20 series is moving to the crucial stages as England has taken a 2-1 lead in the five-match series and in-form players will be looking to make it big again. England’s pace attack comprising Jofra Archer and Mark Wood has been very good with the new ball while the Indian bowlers have been very average and do not like posing a threat to the strong England batting lineup.

The Indian batting on the other has staged an early collapse in two of the three games so far and Virat Kohli has the lone standout player so far. Ishan Kishan’s knock in the second T20 was a positive sign going forward but he will need to be more precise with his shots as he takes a lot of risks. India’s best T20 batsman in the last two years has been KL Rahul who has scored 1 run overall in his last four T20 games.

Virat Kohli’s form with the bat has been very important in the last two T20s  after his downfall in the first game. He had to silence his critics with a big knock and he has produced two excellent knocks in the circumstances. He took India over the line in the second T20 with a 73 not out of just 49 deliveries with three sixes and five fours. His partnerships with Ishan Kishan and Rishabh Pant meant that England did not comeback in the game.

He continued his batting form into the third T20 with a 77 not out off 46 deliveries with four sixes and eight fours when India needed him at most. India was struggling at 24 for three wickets and Kohli stitched partnerships with Iyer and Pandya to get India to a decent score of 156 which wasn’t enough, however. He is the highest run-scorer in the series so far and with his consistency, he will be a top contender to win the man of the series award.

Jason Roy has got two starts in the series already and looks set for a big one within the next two games. He has been in good touch and has taken down the Indian bowlers apart. He has neared the fifty mark twice with 49 in the first game and 46 in the second game and both the knocks came at a very good strike rate showing that he has got his form going.

However, he perished in the 3rd T20 with a bizarre dismissal where he reverse-swept Chahal into the point fielder and was dismissed for 9 runs. He is a destructive batsman and can take the game away from the opponents in a flash. He will be keen to convert the good starts into big ones in the upcoming games which might push his chances for the man of the series award.

Mark Wood:

Mark Wood has had impacts every time has stepped on to the field against India and England missed him badly in the second T20 which they lost comfortably. Wood’s extra pace did the trick in the first game and he surprised the Indian batters who had no clue about the outstanding spell. He finished with figures of  1 for 20 runs in his four overs at an economy rate of just five and looked very threatening.

Wood had an injury scare in the second T20 and England had to rest him but he came with a bang in the third game taking three wickets for just 31 runs and broke the backbone of Indian batting staging an early collapse. India managed to get only 156 on the board due to the early inroads from Mark Wood and he looks to be a sure contender for the man of the series award already with his performances.
