According to the rules of mega auction, one franchise can only retain 5 players. Out of these 5 players, 3 must be domestic players while 2 must be overseas players. All 8 franchises have a maximum of 25 players at present, out of which there are 8 overseas players in each squad. Hence, during the IPL 2022 auction, each franchise will have to release some crucial players from their squad. Eoin Morgan is the Kolkata Knight Riders captain. Eoin Morgan has come under scrutiny for his leadership after KKR’s poor performance in IPL 2021. The Eoin Morgan-led side lost 5 matches out of 7 and finished at the 7th spot in the points table before IPL 2021 got suspended. The team lost few games while chasing a low total. Therefore, Kolkata Knight Riders might plan to change their skipper in IPL 2022.
