The fifth edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL 2021) has been indefinitely postponed due to the prevailing COVID-19 situation in the state. The revised schedule for TNPL 2021 will only be finalized once the lockdown restrictions ease up in Tamil Nadu. In this article, we’ll tell you about the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2021 schedule, start date, team list, squad, winners list, team information, latest news, and all you need to know. The fifth edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL 2021) is scheduled to start on June 04 and the final of the tournament will be played on July 04.

In total, 8 teams will be contesting in the tournament this year and will be involved in 32 grueling games of cricket. Out of these 32 games, 28 matches will be league matches whereas there will be a total of 4 knockout games in the tournament this year. These four matches will include the first and second qualifier, the single eliminator, and the final of the tournament which is slated to take place on July 04 this year.

TNPL 2021 Schedule, Start Date, Timetable, And Venue Details

The TNPL 2021 schedule was released after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCCI) approved the 8-team competition on April 28 this year. It is notable that TNPL 2020 had to be canceled because of the worsening COVID-19 situation in India. However, after getting the nod from the BCCI this year, TNPL 2021 is well on its way to serve another great edition of breath-taking cricket.

The first match of TNPL 2021 will take place between ast season’s runners-up Dindigul Dragons and IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans in Tirunelveli. The tournament will follow a round-robin format where teams will play games across three venues – Tirunelveli, Salem, and Coimbatore.

TNPL 2021 Team List And Squads

In total, 8 teams will be playing in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL 2021) this year. These include, Salem Spartans, LYCA Kovai Kings, Chepauk Super Gillies, Madurai Panthers, Trichy Warriors, Nellai Royal Kings, Dindigul Dragons, and IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans. All these teams will be competing this year for the title.

Chepauk Super Gillies have by far been the most successful team in this tournament. Chepauk Super Gillies have won a total of 2 TNPL titles. Their first victory came back in the year 2017 in the second edition of the tournament. After being devoid of the trophy in 2018, they once again bounced back in 2019 to win their second TNPL title. They will also be the defending champions going into TNPL 2021.

As per the regulations for 2021, teams can choose to retain any number of players from their 2020 Squad. The deadline for sending the list was on 18th April 2020.

TNPL Winners List

The TNPL 2021 will be the 5th edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League. The tournament began in 2016 and has seen a total of 4 editions so far, The 2020 edition of the TNPL had to be postponed due to the widespread COVID-19 pandemic in India. TNPL 2021 will take place behind closed doors. So far, the Tamil Nadu Premier League has seen 3 winners in the 4 years of its existence.

In the very first edition of the competition, Tuti Patriots won the league and were crowned the maiden champions of the Tamil Nadu Premier League. In the second edition in 2017, Chepauk Super Gillies won the title. Madurai Patriots was crowned the third champions of the coveted trophy and Chepauk Super Gillies retained the title in 2019.

VB Kanchi Veerans, a team that was formerly owned by the late VB Chandrasekhar, has been bought by Crown Forts Limited. It has now been renamed as Nellai Royal Kings and the team will be representing the Tirunelveli district.
