Hobart Hurricanes Cricket Team 2024

Hobart Hurricanes is a Big Bash League (BBL) cricket franchise representing Hobart. Founded in 2011, the Hurricanes play their home games at the Bellerive Oval as well as the North Tasmania Cricket Association Ground, Launceston.

Hobart Hurricanes' journey in BBL so far:

Hobart Hurricanes are one of the only two teams who are yet to win the BBL. Their best performance in the tournament came in the 2013-14 and 2017-18 editions when they finished runners-up.

In the first-ever BBL edition, Hobart Hurricanes performed well and finished the competition as semifinalists.

In the second season, the Hobart-based outfit finished at the sixth spot in the points table and could not progress ahead of the league stage.

They bounced back in style in the following season. They finished fourth in the points table after the league stage and went on to qualify for the final for the very first time. For the next three seasons, the Hurricanes could not progress ahead of the league stage.

Their poor run finally ended in the 2017-18 season when they finished at the fourth spot in the points table and eventually ended their campaign as the runners-up.

The Hurricanes have not qualified for the final since that season. In the last two seasons including the 2023-24 season, they could not even go past the league stage.
