Legendary Adam Gilchrist has revealed his favorite to win the ICC World Cup 2023. The highly-anticipated World Cup is scheduled to be played from October 5 to November 19 in India.

A total of ten teams are participating in the marquee event ??? India, Australia, England, New Zealand, Pakistan, Netherlands, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. The competition will be played across ten venues ??? Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Pune, Mumbai, Dharamsala and Lucknow.

The tournament is already being tipped by many to be the most competitive one in the history of the World Cup. A number of teams are strong contenders to lift the title. The likes of India, England, Australia, Pakistan, and New Zealand are seen as the front runners while teams such as South Africa and Sri Lanka are also capable of going all the way.

Adam Gilchrist has predicted a replay of the 2003 World Cup final for the upcoming edition. A day before the start of the tournament, the former Australia batsman took to X (formerly Twitter) to predict an India vs Australia final in this year???s ODI World Cup. And he also predicted Australia to beat India in the final just like they did in 2003.

???On the eve of the Men???s Cricket World Cup, all the best to every team. Fond memories. Australia to beat India in the Final for mine??? wrote Adam Gilchrist.

India and Australia have played a World Cup final just once so far. In 2007, they did not play against each other as India crashed out at the group stage while Australia went on to win the trophy. In 2011, India beat Australia in the quarterfinal on their way to winning the trophy. Four years later, Australia beat India in the semifinal before the former beat the latter in the league stage in 2019.
