Former Indian woman player Anjum Chopra feels that team India has got one of the best middle-order batting lineups. However, Anjum Chopra also added that there will be fitness concerns for some players in the middle-order.

In the ICC World Cup 2023, middle-order batters in the squad are Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan, and Suryakumar Yadav. Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul were out of the field due to injuries for a long time and made a comeback in Asia Cup 2023 last month.

Suryakumar Yadav has struggled to score runs in ODIs consistently except for a couple of good knocks. Ishan Kishan has less experience in ODIs and he also prefers to bat as an opener. However, the middle-order batters showed astonishing performances in recent outings.

India Has Got One Of The Best Middle-Order Batting Lineups- Anjum Chopra

During an interview with TOI, former captain Anjum Chopra was asked whether she feels there is a concern with the middle order. However, Chopra said that the Men in Blue has one of the best middle-order line-ups in the ICC World Cup 2023.

“No. It’s nothing like that. I think we have got one of the best middle-order batting lineups. Yes, there’ll be fitness concerns. There have been some fitness concerns with Shreyas Iyer, but if everyone’s fit and raring to go, then I don’t think there is any concern in the middle order as well”, the former all-rounder said.

Anjum Chopra also added that players like Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, Shreyas Iyer, and Suryakumar Yadav make up a powerful middle-order lineup.

“We have got batters like Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, Shreyas Iyer, and Surya Kumar Yadav. There are players who are waiting to get into this lineup. Ishan Kishan is the one who is vying for a slot. I don’t think this is a concern. I don’t think our middle order is weak in any way”, Anjum Chopra noted.

After his return, KL Rahul shattered a century against Pakistan during Asia Cup 2023. Shreyas Iyer also grabbed the limelight with his ton against Australia. Similarly, Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan have also impressed with their performances.
