Jhye Richardson Warns Australia Of 'Rohit Sharma' Danger Ahead Of World Cup Opener

Australian Pacer Jhye Richardson, who is not a part of Australia’s 15-member squad for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 has mentioned one of the toughest batsmen he has faced in his career. Australia will kick off their World Cup campaign against the hosts India in Chennai on 8th October, the Kangaroos have recently lost an ODI series against the Indian side.

Jhye Richardson who has played 15 ODIs for Australia has talked about the Indian Captain Rohit Sharma and how he has been one of the toughest batters Richardson has faced in his career. Rohit Sharma is known for his pull shot and his ability to come down the track over fast bowlers. He played a brilliant knock scoring 81 off just 57 deliveries in the third ODI against Australia. He took on the Australian bowlers hitting them all around the park.

Jhye Richardson has got Rohit Sharma’s wicket only once in ODIs and Rohit troubled him a lot with his abilities and near to perfect timing. So Richardson has warned his teammates about Rohit Sharma ahead of their clash against India in the World Cup.

“You bowl a maiden over to Rohit Sharma & think you are at the top but the next over when you bowl, he will smash you for 20-24 runs,” said the Australian pacer during his candid chat with Fox Sports.

Rohit Sharma has a tremendous record against Australia in the ODIs, he has scored 2332 runs in 43 innings with an average of 59.79. Rohit Sharma is the only player who has a double century to his name against Australia in the limited-overs format. He has scored eight centuries and nine half-centuries against the Aussies and certainly loves to take on the likes of Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc.

Jhye Richardson believes that Rohit Sharma is a big threat to the Aussie bowling attack and if he gets set, then he will change the course of the match in a matter of few overs. However, Rohit has always struggled in the starting phase of an innings and Australia will try to get him out as early as possible because a settled Rohit Sharma won’t throw away his wicket easily.
