Gautam Gambhir has made a bold prediction regarding who will score the most number of centuries in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. According to Gautam Gambhir, with the kind of technique Pakistan’s captain Babar Azam has, he will be scoring around three to four centuries in this World Cup. Babar Azam has been in top form this year having scored 745 runs in 15 innings with an average of 49.67. He has scored six half-centuries and two centuries this year.

Gautam Gambhir expressed his belief while talking on Star Sports and claimed that Babar Azam has a very impressive technique. Notably, Babar Azam is currently the No.1 batter in the ICC Rankings, and earlier this year, he became the fastest batter to reach 5,000 ODI runs breaking Hashim Amla’s record by achieving the feat in just his 97th inning.

“The kind of technique Babar Azam has, I think he will score three or four centuries for Pakistan in this World Cup,” Gautam Gambhir said on Star Sports. Babar Azam played a brilliant knock scoring 80 runs in the first warm-up match against New Zealand.

He compared Babar to the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Kane Williamon, Joe Root, and David Warner.

“Babar Azam has every quality that he can set this World Cup on fire. I have seen very few players who have a lot of time to bat. I believe that there is Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Kane Williamson, Joe Root, and David Warner but Babar Azam has a different level of quality,” Gambhir said.

Pakistan will kick off their World Cup campaign against the Netherlands on 6th October in Hyderabad. Babar Azam is one of the players to watch out for this time and he will surely be one of the contenders for being the top run-getter of the tournament or scoring the most number of centuries in the tournament or who knows he might achieve both of these accolades.
