Recently, in an interview, Rohit Sharma was asked about the toughest bowler he has ever faced in his illustrious career, and to everyone’s surprise, Rohit Sharma did not mention a left-arm pacer but he did mention one of the greatest fast bowlers of all time.

According to Rohit, of all the bowlers he has faced in his career, Dale Steyn has been the toughest challenge for him. Dale Steyn is one of the bowlers who have troubled him a lot as the South African legend had the ability to swing the ball with a 140+ speed.

“If a bowler who has ever challenged me and I enjoyed playing against him then I’ll have to say Dale Steyn. He is a class player, he got all the skills and I think this is the reason he doesn’t miss a bounce and can swing so fast. I think there are very less people who could swing 140+ and I think he was the one who could do it consistently,” said Rohit.

Rohit Sharma never got out to Dale Steyn in ODIs and T20Is. In Test Cricket, Dale Steyn got him out only once but still Rohit feels that it was a nightmare to face Dale Steyn.

However, Sharma’s average against Dale Steyn is below 30 in every format which means that even though Steyn didn’t get him out several times, he made Rohit Sharma struggle by not allowing him to score runs off his bowling.

Rohit Sharma will play his third World Cup and it is the only major trophy that is missing from his cabinet. Rohit won the T20 World Cup and The ICC Champions Trophy in 2007 and 2013 respectively. Rohit will look forward to winning the World Cup this year as this will most probably be his last outing in the ICC Cricket World Cup.
