Ex-Pakistani pace bowler Mohammad Amir has said that the Rohit Sharma-led India National Cricket Team are the hot favorites to win the World Cup 2023.

The Indian Cricket Team are playing the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 as hosts. After 12 years, the tournament is back in India and this is the first time that India is hosting the complete event on its soil. In 2011 Sri Lanka and Bangladesh were co-hosts and in 1996, Sri Lanka and Pakistan were co-hosts but this time the whole tournament is going to be played on Indian soil. Experts all around the world are predicting India to lift the title this time because of their impeccable record in home conditions.

The Indian Cricket team have been in great form since the commencement of the Asia Cup 2023. India won the Asia Cup 2023 beating Sri Lanka in the finals and after that, they defeated Australia in the recently concluded IND vs AUS series by 2-1. Players like KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravichandran Ashwin are back in the Indian squad and they all are in great touch.

In a recent segment conducted by Star Sports, 11 out of 12 former cricketers predicted India to be in the finals of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Whenever India play in home conditions, they are feared by any opponent in the World and that’s what is raising the expectations this time from the Indian team.

“India are obviously hot favourites as they are playing in India. Whichever team plays against India, they need to give their 110 per cent. India are a dangerous side in their own conditions. Winning in India is not an easy job. When you go to Australia, every team struggles. Likewise, every team struggles when they visit India. Rohit Sharma’s India will be a hot favourite to win the World Cup,” said Mohammad Amir when he was asked whether Rohit Sharma will be able to do what Dhoni did in 2011 in an interview with the TOI.

The Indian team will start their World Cup campaign against Australia on 8th October in Chennai. The Men In Blue will look to end their 10-year drought of winning an ICC event, and this is the best opportunity that they will get. Hopefully, Rohit Sharma and his men will not disappoint the fans this time and will give their best to make sure India wins the World Cup.
