Former Indian cricketer Zaheer Khan recently spoke about Australia’s prospects in the upcoming World Cup 2023, which is set to commence on October 5. Zaheer Khan said that Australia has the advantage of having too many all-rounders in their World Cup squad.

The Pat Cummins-led team will face the Men in Blue in the three-match ODI series to acclimate to the conditions ahead of the marquee tournament. The team management will be hoping to finalize their best combination in their last outing before the World Cup.

Australia Have A Great Squad For The ODI World Cup – Zaheer Khan

In a conversation with Cricbuzz, Zaheer Khan emphasized that Australia have a strong team, and their top-order batters won’t let the opposition bowlers settle with their aggressive approach.

“Australia have a great squad for the ODI World Cup. Especially they have long list of all-rounders which will be an added advantage for the side. Glenn Maxwell is also set for a return in the side,” Zaheer Khan told Cricbuzz.

“They have Cameron Green, Mitchell Marsh, Marcus Stoinis. Cameron Green is one of their attacking top-order batters who do not let you settle in as a bowler. Sean Abbot is a great player as well and should further strengthen the squad.”

Australia’s batters showed an aggressive approach from the start in their last ODI series against South Africa. They suffered a 3-2 loss despite winning the first two matches in the series.

Australia Will Have The Added Advantage – Zaheer Khan

Zaheer Khan believes that Australia is a strong contender to win the World Cup, as they have multiple players with all-round abilities.

“In India we talk about Hardik Pandya being a huge plus for the side, and Australia have 2-3 of those and that’s why they will have the added advantage in the ODI World Cup,” he further added.

Australia is facing injury concerns ahead of the ODI World Cup. Travis Head, who was in great form, has been ruled out of the first half of the tournament due to a finger injury. Pat Cummins, Steve Smith, and Glenn Maxwell returned from their respective injuries.
