Are India Stressing Over NRR? Batting Coach Vikram Rathour Reveals Team India's Main Focus After Back-to-Back Losses

The batting coach of the India National Cricket Team Vikram Rathour has revealed whether the Indian team is worried about the net run rate and semifinals qualifying scenario of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021.

Virat Kohli-led India along with England entered the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 as the top two favourites to win the championship. Eoin Morgan and co. have been performing brilliantly, however, this has not been the case with India.

India lost the first match against arch-rivals Pakistan by 10 wickets and the second game against Kane Williamson-led New Zealand by 8 wickets and now they have to win the three upcoming games and depend on other teams to qualify for the semi-finals.

India will next lock horns with Mohammad Nabi’s Afghanistan at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday, November 3.

At This Moment, The Focus Is To Play Good Cricket, To Win The Remaining Three Games – Vikram Rathour

In a pre-match press conference, Vikram Rathour was asked whether captain Virat Kohli is also sitting with the calculator just like fans to calculate India’s scenarios to qualify for the semi-finals. To which he jokingly replied that being cricketers they are not good at maths and the focus is to win the upcoming games.

“Not really (Laughs), We won’t be good at maths anyways being cricketers, I think at this time, at this moment, the focus is to play good cricket, to win the remaining three games.

Vikram Rathour further added that the calculation will come into play when India plays their last game and the results of all the other teams in the group are out. He also said that currently they are not focusing a lot on net run rate and are just looking to win the games.

I think this calculations will come into the picture when we get to the last game and when the other results are out. So, at this moment, No, the focus is not on the NRR, we’re just looking to play well and win the games”
