Evin Lewis Names MS Dhoni Captain Of His IPL Playing XI

West Indies opener Evin Lewis named MS Dhoni as the captain of his all-time playing XI of the Indian Premier League.

Lewis, who was named as an overseas replacement in the Rajasthan Royals squad in the second leg of IPL 2021, scored 151 runs from five matches at the strike rate of 138.

In a video posted on Rajasthan Royals’ official Twitter handle, the opening batsman named his all-time playing XI of IPL.

Lewis named his compatriot and opening partner Chris Gayle, along with Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma as the openers of his team.

RCB’s duo of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers are slotted in to bat at No.3 and No.4, respectively.

West Indies skipper Kieron Pollard bats at No.5 followed by Dhoni and Andre Russell as the big hitters of Lewis’ playing XI.

Ravindra Jadeja, who can bowl quick overs and also slog big shots in the death overs, plays as the designated all-rounder in the team, with Rashid Khan as the main spinner.

Jasprit Bumrah will be the likeliest choice to lead the bowling attack of Lewis’ team, with Australian pacer Mitchell Starc, who has not played in the tournament since 2015, is named as the second pace bowler.

Apart from being the captain of the team, Dhoni will also keep the wickets behind the stumps in Lewis’ team.

“Dhoni is definitely gonna keep and definitely gonna lead the team,” Lewis said.

Dhoni is the second most successful captain in IPL history after Rohit Sharma, as the former Indian player this month won IPL 2021 with Chennai Super Kings for the fourth time after defeating Kolkata Knight Rider by 27 runs in the final.

Lewis had earlier said that many people wants him to emulate Gayle’s batting style, but the Trinidad-born player feels it is a big task to fill the shoes of the ‘Universe Boss’.
