Cricketer turned commentator Aakash Chopra said that wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant is likely to at at No.4 position for India in the T20 World Cup.

Pant, who captained Delhi Capitals in IPL 2021, usually batted at No.4 for them but would adjust himself in the order depending on the match situation.

Pant came in the same position against England in the recent warm-up game and smashed 29 runs off 14 balls with one four and three sixes.

Chopra said that India should cement Pant at No.4 which gives him more time to settle at the crease and later exploit in the innings.

“I am getting the smell that Rishabh Pant might actually be seen playing for India at No.4 which is not a bad idea because there is no lefty up or down the order. You want to paradrop a lefty before Jaddu comes but that can wait till the Pakistan game,” Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

Aakash Chopra unhappy with Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya’s form

Suryakumar Yadav who did not have a great time with the bat in IPL 2021 made 82 in the final league game against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Not only Suryakumar but Hardik Pandya also failed to deliver for Mumbai Indians as he could only manage 127 runs from 12 games at an average of 14.11.

Suryakumar and Hardik made scores of 8 and 12* respectively in the warm-up game against England.

Chopra wanted both the players to bat higher up the order against Australia in the second and final warm-up match.

If you play him [Pant] at No.4, the ones you have kept at No.5 and No.6 don’t have form. Suryakumar Yadav, of course, made runs in the last match he played for Mumbai but his second half of the IPL has been lacklustre, other than one match,” Chopra said.

“You need people in form to finish games off and for that, I request with folded hands to send them both [Surya and Hardik] up the order. You wasted a chance in the last match and you won’t get this chance every time,” he added.

India will play their opening game of the Super 12 against Pakistan on October 24 in Dubai.
