T20 World Cup 2021: Hardik Pandya Declared Fit For New Zealand Clash – Reports

A piece of good news for Team India and their fans is that not only Hardik Pandya has passed his fitness test but also has started bowling in the nets.

Hardik Pandya sustained a blow on his right shoulder while batting against Pakistan‘s Shaheen Afridi on Sunday in Dubai and was seen clasping his shoulder in pain.

He didn’t take the field during Pakistan’s batting innings as Ishan Kishan substituted for him on the field. Later, the BCCI revealed that the right-hander had left the ground and was taken for scans.

In his innings versus Pakistan, Hardik Pandya scored 11 runs off 8 balls, wherein he stroked a couple of boundaries.

Now, according to the latest news and videos, the all-rounder passed his fitness test and also bowled in the nets on Wednesday in preparation for India’s second Super 12 match, against New Zealand on Sunday in Dubai.

The broadcaster, Star Sports, confirmed that all-rounder Hardik Pandya has recovered and is fit for selection for India’s next match against the Kiwis. The broadcasters also showed clips of Hardik Pandya bowling in the nets on Wednesday.

Hardik Pandya is getting better, prepared to bowl at least two overs: Virat Kohli

Ahead of the Pakistan match, India captain Virat Kohli talked about Hardik Pandya’s bowling fitness. Because of his back issues, the right-hander has been rendered to limited bowling – he didn’t bowl a single over in the entire IPL 2021 – and have rarely finished his quota of overs for Team India in the last year.

Kohli asserted that Hardik Pandya is getting better and will give the side a couple of overs going deep in the tournament. Kohli himself came on as the part-time option during the warm-up game versus Australia.

“Honestly, I feel that Hardik presently with his physical condition is getting better in terms of being prepared to bowl at least two overs for us at a certain stage in this tournament,” Kohli said last week.

The Indian skipper stressed the importance of Pandya’s skills in the line-up.

“We strongly feel that we can make the most of the opportunity at hand till the time he starts bowling, we’ve considered a couple of other options to chip in for an over or two. So, we’re not bothered about that at all. What he brings at that No.6 spot is something you cannot create overnight,” he added.

Pakistan have won both their matches – against India and New Zealand – and have a foot in the semi-final. Both India and New Zealand will look for their first win of the tournament this Sunday.
