Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan had developed a severe chest infection and he spent 2 nights in the ICU before the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 semi-final clash against Australia at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Thursday, November 11.

Mohammad Rizwan batted brilliantly for Pakistan scoring 67 runs off 52 in the semi-final clash against Australia but it was not enough to help Pakistan make it to the finals as Australia won the match by 5 wickets to qualify for the final and now they will lock horns with New Zealand on November 14 in Dubai.

Talking about the match, Losing the toss and batting first Pakistan posted the target of 177 runs for Australia.

Defending the target Pakistan started off really well as they dismissed Australian captain Aaron Finch on duck. However, after that David Warner and Mitchell Marsh had a very good 51 runs partnership.

In the end, Marcus Stoinis and Matthew Wade marched Australia towards a 5-wicket victory with Wade smashing 3 consecutive sixes off the left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Mohammad Rizwan Spent Two Nights In The ICU Recovering – Pakistan Team Doctor

The Doctor of Pakistan National Cricket Team in the post-match press conference revealed that Rizwan had developed a chest infection on 9th November and was taken to hospital. However, he made an incredible recovery and was fully fit to compete in the crucial clash. Pakistan’s Team Doctor said:

Mohammad Rizwan developed a severe chest infection on the 9th of November after which he was admitted to the hospital. He spent two nights in the ICU recovering, made an incredible recovery and was fit before the match. We can see his great determination that shows his spirit for performing for the country and we can see how he performed today.”
