England’s Nick Compton has been never shy of airing his opinions about Indian cricket on social media and has targeted India captain Virat Kohli quite a lot. He has often been trolled on Twitter by Indian cricket fans thanks to his obvious bias towards England and dislikes for Indian cricket.

However, this time, he has taken a very cheeky dig at Virat Kohli as the Indian team had a shameful performance in a virtual quarterfinal match in the T20 World Cup 2021 against Kane Williamson’s New Zealand in the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on October 31, 2021. It all started with Virat Kohli losing to toss and Kane Williamson choosing to bowl first.

It was a déjà vu to the Pakistan game when captain Babar Azam won the toss and decided to bowl, keeping India to 151/7 in 20 overs, a below-par score, which they were able to chase down easily without breaking a sweat or losing a wicket for that matter as both Azam and Mohammad Rizwan scored unbeaten half-centuries.

This time India had made two changes as Ishan Kishan replaced Suryakumar Yadav and Shardul Thakur came in for Bhuvneshwar Kumar. New Zealand brought in Adam Milne for Tim Seifert.

However, the nightmare for India continued as Ishan Kishan fell for 4, KL Rahul made 18, Rohit Sharma made 14 and captain Kohli struggled for 9 runs in 17 balls. Rishabh Pant was castled for 12 runs. Only Hardik Pandya (23) and Ravindra Jadeja (26*) were able to show some resistance, as India failed to hit a single boundary in between overs 7-16.

Finally, India managed 110/7 in 20 overs with Trent Boult picking 3/20 and Ish Sodhi taking 2/17.

I Predict A Huge Win For India Vs Namibia On 8th November In Virat Kohli’s Last Match As Captain- Nick Compton

Nick Compton wasn’t shy of taking a dig at the Indian captain Virat Kohli, who is captaining India in the T20I series for the final time before stepping down at the end of the T20 World Cup 2021. Kohli had made the decision before the IPL 2021 UAE leg and shocked many in the cricket fraternity.

Kohli was criticized for lack of creativity in his captaincy against Pakistan and the same can be said, given that India hasn’t won a single ICC event since he has taken over as India captain in 2017. Therefore, Compton tweeted saying:

“For Kohli’s last game in charge I predict a resounding victory against Namibia on the 8th November…”

India will find it difficult to qualify for the semi-finals as a loss against New Zealand will leave them with 3 matches to win and hoping New Zealand loses one match out of their remaining three encounters as well.
