Former England captain Michael Vaughan believes that only Babar Azam-led Pakistan has the audacity to stop England in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021.

On Saturday, England drubbed Australia in a one-sided match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium to ease past by eight wickets and win their third game on the trot.

England thump Australia by eight wickets:

England’s mavericking openers Jason Roy and Jos Buttler power-fired 66 runs in the first six overs, the highest total in the powerplay in the T20 World Cup 2021 so far, to set the tone for the chase.

Buttler was the wrecker-in-chief as he smashed 39 off 19 balls before Roy (22 from 18 balls) fell to Adam Zampa soon after the powerplay.

But Buttler continued his power-hitting juggernaut as he charged down the crease against Zampa to tonk him for a six over long-on and brought up his 15th half-century in the shortest format.

Buttler and Jonny Bairstow’s heavy blows finished off England’s chase of 126 within 11.4 overs with eight wickets to spare.

Chris Jordan (3/17) and Chris Woakes (2/23) were the pick from England that rattled the Australian ship from flourishing.

Only Pakistan look likely to stop England at this stage: Michael Vaughan

England has now won all three matches in Group 1 and have put their one foot on the semi-final. Like England, Pakistan is dominating their own group with three successive wins in as many games.

Vaughan is of the opinion that Pakistan will be a worthy challenge for Eoin Morgan & co further in the tournament.

“Now that is a message to the rest … England are the best team & most destructive … Whose going to stop them !?? Only #Pakistan look likely at this stage #T20WorldCup,” Vaughan tweeted.

England will play their next game against Sri Lanka on Monday at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
