South Africa on Thursday (September 9) announced their squad for the forthcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Temba Bavuma is appointed as the team’s skipper in the tournament and will be leading the team in an ICC tournament for the first time. ICC T20 World Cup 2021 will commence on October 17 in UAE and will conclude with the final on November 14. South Africa will play their first encounter against Australia on October 23.
In South Africa’s 15-man squad for ICC T20I World Cup 2021, Quinton de Kock, David Miller, Heinrich Klaasen, Aiden Markram, Rassie van der Dussen are some of the key batsmen. Bowlers like Anrich Nortje, Dwaine Pretorius, Kagiso Radaba, Tabraiz Shamsi, and Lungi Ngidi are also part of the squad. However, there are few big players who missed out on selection for the ICC tournament.

3. Faf du Plessis
Faf du Plessis is the first player whose exclusion from ICC T20 World Cup 2021 squad was quite surprising. The former South African skipper last played a T20I game for South Africa in November-December 2020 against England. In the three T20I games, the 37-year-old smacked 2 half-centuries- knocks of 58 and 52*.
The right-handed batsman also gave a fabulous batting performance in the first leg of IPL 2021. In 7 innings, the Chennai Super Kings opener mustered 320 runs with 2 fifties to finish as third-highest run-scorer. In the ongoing CPL 2021, he recently smacked a century while playing for Saint Lucia Kings.

2. Imran Tahir
Imran Tahir is another big player from South Africa who missed out on selection to ICC T20 World Cup 2021. The leg spinner last played a T20I match for South Africa in March 2019 against Sri Lanka. It was the only T20 match he played for South Africa last year.
The 42-year-old player has promising stats in T20I so far. In 38 matches, the right-arm bowler has picked 63 wickets at an average of 15.04. He also owns a brilliant economy rate of 6.73 in T20Is. Tahir recently played in The Hundred 2021 tournament and also played for CSK in IPL 2021 first leg.

1. Chris Morris
Chris Morris is another big player who was not selected in the South Africa squad for ICC T20 World Cup 2021. The all-rounder was the costliest player in IPL 2021 auction, as he was picked by Rajasthan Royals for Rs. 16.25. He also executed a brilliant bowling show in the tournament, picking 14 wickets in 7 games.
The 34-year-old last paid a T20I series against Sri Lanka in March 2019, where he picked 3 wickets in 2 games. In 23 T20I games for South Africa so far, Morris has scalped 34 wickets at an average of 20.50.
