Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has noted that Australia will be the favorite to win the T20 World cup 2021 title considering their momentum and brilliant record in knockouts. Both Australia and New Zealand came into the tournament without the favorites tag and no one expected them to make the finals.

This will be a chance to rewrite history as both teams haven’t yet won an ICC T20 World cup and this will be the best opportunity to get their hands on trophy. The final will take place at 7:30 Pm today at the Dubai International Stadium and it is expected to be a high voltage game.

“I Think They Are On A Roll” – Sunil Gavaskar

Sunil Gavaskar noted that Australia will have the Psychological advantage with the head-to-head record in ICC tournament knockouts and mentioned they have the momentum in their favor too. He added that Australia’s excellent record against teams will make them the favorite to win the title in the finals.

“It definitely does (whether the superior record gives a psychological advantage). When you have won more often than you have lost, you just enter the field feeling that come what may, you will be able to turn it around.

“The Australians, I think they are on a roll, they have got the momentum. In the knockouts, it’s not against New Zealand but against most teams that they have an unbelievable record. They will fancy their chances of claiming this ICC T20 cup for the first time.” Sunil Gavaskar told Sports Tak

Sunil Gavaskar Feels Devon Conway’s Absence Might Hurt New Zealand

Sunil Gavaskar reckoned that he would have given a 50-50 chance for New Zealand to win the game if Devon Conway wasn’t injured and felt that New Zealand might face difficulty with Tim Seifert not having played enough games.

If Devon Conway was fit, maybe I would have said 50-50. But with Devon Conway not there, a new person coming in who hasn’t played after the first match, Tim Seifert, it’s not going to be easy for New Zealand. And like I said, Australia’s record in knockouts is awesome.” He added

Australia had won the previous ICC World cup 2015 final against New Zealand and they will be looking to keep their records intact.
