T20 World Cup 2021: Too Easy For England Right Now, They Look One Of The Form Teams- Michael Atherton
Former England skipper Michael Atherton believes the English team under Eoin Morgan has performed excellently so far and is one of the form teams in the ongoing T20 World Cup. He also feels this current side is one of the most feared in white-ball cricket.
Last evening, England strolled past Bangladesh without a fuss. They further boosted their net run rate, which was already on the higher side. They are well set to come out of the groups on top unless something unexpected happens. Speaking to Sky Sports about the team, Atherton said:
“It’s too easy for England right now. They’ve breezed past West Indies and Bangladesh, and now their net run-rate is absolutely fantastic, and they have points in the bag. They look one of the form teams.”
“Eoin Morgan has a clear plan” – Michael Atherton
Atherton further stated that the bowlers look in top form which was one of the worries for the English side as they are without two key players, Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes. Skipper, Morgan, has also been at his best while leading the side.
“England are feared now in a way that they weren’t say four or five years ago in one-day cricket – in any conditions, not just at home – including these conditions which were once regarded as quite alien. The bowlers look well-drilled. Morgan knows exactly what he’s about. He’s got a clear plan, but of course in T20 cricket, that can go out of the window,” Atherton said.
The ODI World Cup champions will be up against Australia in their third match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Saturday.
