T20 World Cup 2021: Watch - Tabraiz Shamsi Castles Glenn Maxwell As The Batter Misses His Reverse Sweep

Australia batsman Glenn Maxwell saw his stumps disturbed by South Africa spinner Tabraiz Shamsi during their encounter on Saturday in Abu Dhabi.

On the second ball of the 15th over of Australia’s innings, Glenn Maxwell attempted his specialized reverse sweep. But, it wasn’t enough to smack Shamsi, the number 1 ranked ICC T20I bowler.

To a middle-and-leg delivery from the chinaman, Glenn Maxwell turned left-handed, looked for a big slog but missed it completely for the ball to crash into his stumps. The bowler roared in delight as Australia slip further in their chase.

Australia ace tense chase

Chasing 119, Australia lost their skipper, Aaron Finch, in the second over to Anrich Nortje. David Warner started off briskly with three boundaries before being outdone by Kagiso Rabada as Australia finished the powerplay at 28/2.

South Africa tightened the screws with the wicket of Mitchell Marsh by Keshav Maharaj. Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell build up a vital 42-run partnership off 42 balls before the former was spectacularly caught by Aiden Markram in the deep off Nortje. Maxwell was bowled by Shamsi as the Proteas headed back in the game.

Marcus Stoinis and Matthew Wade then took up the mantle and counter-attacked with a series of fours to bring the equation down to 8 runs required off the last over. The right-hander slammed a couple of fours to complete the chase.
