Indian skipper Virat Kohli, on Sunday, shut down a journalist who had suggested Virat of replacing Rohit Sharma with Ishan Kishan in the game against Pakistan. Team India took on arch-rivals Pakistan in their opening fixture of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday.

Having lost the toss, the Men in Blue were invited to bat first by the Men in Green. However, a miserable batting collapse was what unfolded for the India National Cricket Team. The Indian Cricket Team lost both their in-form openers, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul, in the first 3 overs of the game and couldn’t stage a comeback until the final delivery was bowled.

Team India finished on a below-par total of 151 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their 20 overs. What followed was a carnage by the Pakistan openers, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, both of whom scored half-centuries and remained not out until the very end to guide their team to a 10-wicket historic win over India. Virat Kohli was the highest run-scorer for India in the game.

After the humiliating loss, Virat Kohli, the Indian skipper sat in a press conference wherein a journalist asked Virat about the team selection and could Rohit Sharma have been replaced by Ishan Kishan coming into the match. To this, Virat Kohli responded, “It’s a very brave question!! What do you think sir? I played the team that I thought was the best, what is your opinion? Will you drop Rohit Sharma of T20Is? What he did in the last game that we played!!”

After this, Virat Kohli laughed off and said, “If you want controversies, please tell me before so I can answer accordingly.”
