West Indies are slated to play against Bangladesh in the 23^rd match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 on Friday at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. The two teams are sitting at the bottom two positions on the points table. Bangladesh have played two matches in Super 12s and are yet to earn a win.

They wouldn’t be too pleased with the way they have batted in the tournament. Liton Das has been nothing short of a disappointment for them. His low scores at the top of the order have been a major concern.

His partner M Naim though has looked in great touch. It has been understood that Shakib might open the innings in the next game and it won’t a bad decision if that happens. The experienced duo of Mushfiqur Rahman and Mahmudullah need to ensure they stay right till the end and finish the innings on a high. Bangladesh don’t have power-hitters lower down the order and thus both Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah need to take a lot of responsibility.

Shakib has done a great job with the ball. He has consistently picked wickets for the side but the other bowlers need to step up if Bangladesh fancy a chance on Friday. Mustafizur Rahman’s performances have been ordinary, while the likes of Mahedi Hasan and Nasum Ahmed too made mediocre returns. If Bangladesh wants to stay in contention for the semis, they ought to pick wickets early on.

Facing them are the West Indies, who are sitting at the bottom of the points table. They are yet to win a game in the tournament and another defeat might well end their hopes of defending the title. Having said that, Kieron Pollard and Men certainly have the ability to turn their fortunes around. Evin Lewis has been in great form and Andre Fletcher might well replace Lendl Simmons in the next game.

The duo has been exemplary this year and should give a good start on Friday. Chris Gayle and Nicholas Pooran both played great shots and didn’t look out of form in the last game. Vital cameos from them and a late flourish from the lower-middle order could get West Indies to a massive score.

West Indies certainly have it in them to do that but their last two performances don’t inspire a lot of confidence. The batsmen need to make sure they convert the starts into big scores because not everyone is going to have a great day at the office. Keeping in mind Bangladesh’s ordinary bowling performances, one should expect West Indies batsmen to go all guns blazing on Friday.

Both sides have produced ordinary performances thus far in the tournament. However, looking at West Indies solid batting line-up and Bangladesh’s lack of match-winners in the team, Kieron Pollard and Co. certainly have the edge in the game.
