Former England skipper Michael Vaughan feels that no team would prefer facing Pakistan, considering the current form they are in. Babar Azam and co. have won all three of their games so far in the Super 12 stage and are likely to make it five in five with Scotland and Namibia up next for them.

Pakistan was clinical against India, flustered a little against New Zealand and Afghanistan but battled through when it mattered the most. These are the signs of a confident and strong team, and Vaughan reckons he wouldn’t want to face them right now.

Tomorrow’s (Saturday’s) England vs Australia game is a monster. Whoever wins is going to finish top. I am sure Pakistan are going to finish top in their group. I would not want to face Pakistan in the semi-final.

I’ll be more than happy to play in the other semi-final and hope someone knocks them out. We are a long way off from the final but they seem to have everything,” Vaughan was quoted as saying to Cricbuzz.

Michael Vaughan also pointed out that the Men in Green have a great mix of youth and experience, something which has guided them through in the clutch situations. They also have a capable finisher in Asif Ali and a bowling attack that is ever-improving, as per Vaughan.

In this Pakistan team, you have that opening combination, you have got that experience in the middle with Hafeez and Malik. Now, you have got finishers, and with their bowling combination, they look a terrific side.

To get over the line in the fashion that they ended up doing, it sends quite a strong message. They were pushed into a corner by Afghanistan and they came out with a fantastic victory because of a team contribution. It’s concerning for all other teams in the competition,” Vaughan added.

Pakistan sits at the top of their group with three wins in three games. After yesterday’s loss, Afghanistan still stays in second place courtesy of an excellent net run rate.
