Australia will take on Ireland in their next ICC T20 World Cup 2022 Super 12 Stage match at The Gabba in Brisbane on Monday, October 31. Australia will be aiming to beat them to keep their chances of qualifying for the semi-finals alive.

The hosts lost their opening game against New Zealand by a huge margin. After the loss against the Kiwis, Australia bounced back to winning ways with a win against Sri Lanka. But their next match got washed out and they had to share the points with England.

Australia’s former cricketers have asked to drop Australia’s T20 captain Aaron Finch from the team. Former captain Michael Clarke also expressed the same opinion.

Aaron Finch announced his retirement from ODI cricket earlier this year. However, this did not help him regain his form in limited overs internationals. He has scored only fifty in the last 10 T20Is. Finch had scored an unconvincing 31 runs off 42 balls against Sri Lanka, and the game against England was washed out.

Sri Lanka Bowled Too Short – Michael Clarke

“I thought if the Sri Lankans can get this ball in the right area while it’s new, we could be under the pump and we were. But even still, if that’s England’s bowling attack, if that’s India and Pakistan’s bowling attack that I watched the other night, if that’s South Africa’s bowling attack, Finchy is not lasting 10 seconds because he played and missed and balls went over the stumps,” Clarke told Sky Sports Radio.

“Sri Lanka bowled too short. With 160 on the board, if Sri Lanka get their length right and even though we were under the pump without Marcus Stoinis’ amazing innings, I think we could have been in even more trouble.”

The Aaron Finch-led side will take on Afghanistan in their final Super 12 match at the Adelaide Oval on Friday, November 4.
