England started their ICC T20 World Cup 2022 campaign with an impressive five-wicket win over Afghanistan at the Optus Stadium in Perth on Saturday, October 22. However, rain played a major role in their next matches.

The Jos Buttler-led team suffered a shock defeat against Ireland by five runs through the DLS method. Their much-anticipated clash against defending champions Australia was called off due to rain on Friday, October 28.

We Can Win Both Games Comfortably By Playing Our Best Cricket – Moeen Ali

“We could win these two games yet still miss out. But our job is to win them both and, if we can, win them comfortably. We can do that by playing our best cricket until the end of the tournament and I don’t see why we shouldn’t throw caution to the wind,” said England’s vice-captain in the aftermath of the washed-out clash against Australia here.

“We just have to be brave and play the way we want to. That doesn’t mean slogging but playing the way we can and showing why we were picked in the first place. If we’d taken a few more risks at the top against Ireland it could have been a different game. That’s what we need to do now and tell ourselves four more wins will win us the World Cup,” he added.

England will next be seen in action on Tuesday, November 1 when they take on New Zealand at the Gabba in Brisbane in the 33rd match of the world cup. They will face Sri Lanka in their last group-stage match at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday, November 5.
