The dynamic right-handed batter is all set to make a staggering comeback to the English setup after 3 years. Jonny Bairstow’s freak injury opened the doors for the experienced campaigner.

The batter had failed a doping test ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2o19 and from then he was blatantly ignored. Eoin Morgan, the former skipper had said that Hales had disrespected the team’s values; due to which Alex wasn’t even considered for selection.

Hales has been playing franchise Cricket all around the globe. He was a part of Sydney Thunder for 3 seasons and had played 45 matches. Shane Bond, the bowling coach of Sydney Thunder had raised a voice that Hales deserves a second chance.

The batter will heavily benefit from playing in Australia where he would be a force to reckon with in ICC T20 World Cup 2022. Alex Hales has represented England in 60 T20Is and has an average of 31 with a decent strike rate of 136.65.

Robert Key on Alex Hales

Robert Key’s inclusion as ECB Director was slightly a chance for Alex Hales to redeem himself. Alex Hales was quite frustrated with his omission for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. The managing director, who heads up the selection panel, said he believes that Hales has “done his time” for his past misdemeanours and that selection now should be based purely on form and ability.

Alex Hales Set For a Homecoming

England Cricket Board has made up their mind that they are not going forward with Jason Roy. The opening batter has been struggling badly with the form and his recent slump in Hundred was quite evident that he is out of form. Jonny Bairstow was expected to fill his slot, but his absence can make England a dangerous opening partnership. Jos Buttler & Alex Hales can be lethal on their day when both of them can switch roles.

Alex Hales should be wary that ECB would be strict on his behaviour; as a player hardly gets a second chance in the Game of Gentlemen. In the recent Hundred, Alex Hales was seen middling the ball quite smoothly and was looking ominous. Hales has shown in franchise cricket that he can be trusted for chasing big totals. He has the unique ability to handle pressure in crunch situations which is the reason why he played so many leagues.
