Former India National Cricket Team head coach Ravi Shastri has said that he would include the 23-year-old left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh in his India squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 because the pacer would bring variety to the pace attack.
The young left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh got his India call-up after his outstanding performance for the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and so far he has done a brilliant job for the India National Cricket Team.
Pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar will definitely be in Team India’s squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 and several other fast bowlers are auditioning for the remaining spots in the team among which one pacer is Arshdeep.
In a conversation with Fan Code before the start of the fourth T20I match between India and the West Indies, Shastri said that India’s pace battery for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 should consist of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Arshdeep Singh.
“I think very close to because India need variety. And in Australia, left-armers normally do a good job. There is bounce and the angle that he creates. He will be an ideal foil when you look at the Indian attack. It should have Bhuvi, Jasprit, Shami and then if you put him in the mix and all you might know that he might play in one of the games given the opportunity,” he said.
Me variety ke liye lunga aur jisko baithna hoga bahar woh baith sakte he – Ravi Shastri
Former India head coach further said that along with three right-arm pacers a left-arm pacer would form a perfect pace bowling attack for India. Shastri said:
“Me toh lunga usko. Me variety ke liye lunga aur jisko baithna hoga bahar woh baith sakte he. If there are four pacers picked there I would pick three right-armers and one left-armer and one all-rounder which is Hardik Pandya. Jasprit and Bhuvi are certainties and I feel Shami will get the nod.”
The young left-arm pacer Arshdeep has impressed everyone with his skills at the international level and so far he has bagged 9 wickets in 5 T20Is for India at an economy of 6.05 and an average of 12.56.
