ICC T20 World Cup 2022: Babar Azam Celebrates 28th Birthday With Counterparts Ahead Of The Marquee Event

Babar Azam celebrated his 28th birthday with fellow captains of the T20 World Cup 2022 teams after addressing a joint press conference in Melbourne on Saturday, October 15.
Australian captain Aaron Finch presented the Pakistan captain with a special birthday cake while the Pakistani skipper was having a conversation with Scotland’s Richie Berrington.
In a post shared by the ICC, all the captains were seen celebrating Azam’s birthday. “Happy Birthday Babar Azam, that cake looks good,” said ICC in the Twitter post.

Babar was the highest run-scorer in last year’s T20 World Cup with 303 runs in six matches. He set the tone for Pakistan’s unbeaten run in the group stage with a stunning half-century against India in the first game. He equalled the record of four half-centuries held by Virat Kohli and Matthew Hayden in a single tournament.
Babar Azam is currently ranked first in the ODI rankings, third in the T20 rankings, and third in the Test rankings. The right-handed batsman has played 42 Tests, 92 ODIs and 92 T20 Internationals so far in his career. He scored 3122 runs in Tests, 4664 runs in ODIs and 3231 runs in T20Is.

When asked about the match against India, Babar said, “Whenever you play against India, it is always a high-intensity game. Fans also wait for this match, we enjoy the contest on the field. We try to play good cricket and we look to give our best, “Babar said.
The 28-year-old led Pakistan to their first-ever win over India in a World Cup match at the T20 World Cup in the UAE last year. The Men in Green defeated New Zealand in the final match of the New Zealand and Bangladesh tri-series ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022.
Pakistan will take on arch-rivals India in their opening encounter of the ICC T20 World Cup at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne, on Sunday, October 23.
