Tim David has made a name for himself while playing in different T20 leagues across the globe. The 26-year-old, who was bought by the 5-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians (MI) for INR 8.25 crore at the IPL 2022 mega auction, has participated in the IPL, BBL, CPL, PSL, T20 Blast and The Hundred.

He has played for the teams like Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Perth Scorchers, Multan Sultans, Lancashire, Lahore Qalandars, Hobart Hurricanes, Surrey, St Lucia Kings, and Southern Brave.

Reacting to the news of his Australia call-up, David said that for a long time representing Australia “looked unlikely”.

I think for a long time (representing Australia) looked unlikely, but I don’t think that I wouldn’t have ever imagined it. It’s something that you still always want to strive for, and I guess it feels really rewarding for myself and I guess for my family and my support network to be able to get that call and share it with them,” David told cricket.com.au.

Explosive batter Tim David further said that T20 cricket has not become his sole focus. He also explained how his T20 focus “evolved naturally” through each opportunity he got in the 20-over format.

“T20 has not become a sole focus, but it’s just evolved naturally that way. My first opportunity after being released by Western Australia was to go play for Singapore. So, I went, did that, then came back and had an opportunity to get to the Hurricanes. So from there, the only thing I was going to do in playing professional cricket was play T20 cricket,” David said.

“So you focus on those skills and I’ve had some more opportunities come from there. So, it’s just kind of evolved naturally,” he further added.

David has played 14 T20 International games for Singapore, scoring 558 runs at an average of 46.50 and a strike rate of 158.52.
