ICC T20 World Cup 2022: He Is Not Like Harshal Patel - Danish Kaneria Questions Indian Team Management For Rushing Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah is likely to miss the 2022 T20 World Cup due to a back injury. The Indian fast bowler was recently rested for the first T20I against South Africa after complaining of back pain during India’s practice session.

After playing in India’s tour of England, Bumrah returned to the team for the T20I series against Australia. The 28-year-old missed the first match in Mohali as a precaution and played in the next two matches.

Danish Kaneria, a former Pakistan cricketer, questioned the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for rushing Jasprit Bumrah’s return from injury. Kaneria stated that the bowler shouldn’t have played in the recent T20I series against Australia.

Jasprit Bumrah Should Have Returned In T20 World Cup – Danish Kaneria

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Kenria stated that Bumrah has been on the sidelines due to a back injury. He suggested that the fast bowler should have waited for the T20 World Cup before making his comeback.

“It would have been better if he had returned directly at the T20 World Cup 2022,” Kaneria said on his YouTube channel. “He could have played in practice matches to get back into rhythm. He is not like Harshal Patel or any other bowler who would need a lot of time to get back into the groove.”

The former Pakistan cricketer also said that Bumrah is prone to injuries, despite the fact that he did not miss matches for the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

“There are issues with Jasprit Bumrah’s back once again. While he is prone to injuries, he has always played all the matches in the IPL. The BCCI and the team management have looked after him well, giving him enough rest. However, it remains to be seen if the medical team were sure that he was ready to return,” Kaneria said.
