ICC T20 World Cup 2022: "Pakistan Defeat Not A Concern But A Bit Of A Wake-Up Call"- Temba Bavuma

South Africa Cricket Team suffered a massive defeat against Pakistan. The Men in Green outplayed South Africa and now have won 2 matches out of 4 and still have a thin chance of qualifying for the Semi-Finals. Pakistan bowlers showed a lot of character as the pitch was a batting paradise.
South Africa most likely won’t top Group 2 as of now they have got 5 points from 4 matches. Apart from that, Proteas’ middle order has been exposed. The inconsistency from Rilee Rossouw has started to hurt South Africa as the batter looks in a hurry to play shots.
Temba Bavuma on Defeat
Skipper Temba Bavuma reflected on the performance and made some interesting statements. “I wouldn’t say it’s a concern. Probably is a bit of a wake-up call. I thought the first ten overs, we were superb. We were able to get them under pressure. Then after that, the wheels probably came off.” said Bavuma.
“Like I said, I don’t think it’s a big concern. Yes, there are talking points for us, areas that we can learn from. Maybe it’s a performance that we needed to kind of bring us down back to earth.” he added.
Concerns for South Africa
South Africa early in the match was dealt with the injury blow of David Miller. The left-handed batter has been quite instrumental in finishing the matches for the team. Although, the injury is not that serious as he is expected to be fit against the Netherlands on 6th November.
The Proteas don’t have the luxury of batting deep as they don’t have many power hitters present. Head Coach Mark Boucher would be worried about the form of Quinton de Kock as the batter is finding ways to get out. Quinton is quite pivotal to the setup as he has the knack for changing the facets of the game quickly.
