South African Cricket Team would be dejected with their performance in T20I Series against India. The Skipper Temba Bavuma has been struggling to find form. The right-handed batter’s position in the team has been questioned by a lot of experts for the marquee event.
South Africa has one of the best bowling attacks in the form of Rabada, Nortje & Ngidi. These pacers can easily rattle any team on a given day. In Australian conditions, it would be quite interesting to see how they fare on Australia’s fast and bouncy pitches.
Aakash Chopra on Temba Bavuma
Aakash Chopra was speaking on his YouTube channel and made a strong statement on Temba Bavuma. “Temba Bavuma as a captain, as a batter, is a weakness. I would like to apologize to him as I shouldn’t be saying this to an international player, and that’s not right. Unfortunately, there’s no place for him in this side.” said Aakash.
“He will surely play because he is the captain. However, one of Rilee Rossouw, Reeza Hendricks or Tristan Stubbs will have to miss out because of that.” he added
Conundrum for Management
The management should make Bavuma bat at no. 3 position. If there’s an early dismissal, then he can provide stability to the team. Bavuma is someone who can stick to the innings and play the role of anchor. The team doesn’t expect Bavuma to strike at 140 is as his batting style is a bit unorthodox.
Head Coach Mark Boucher would be hoping to end on a high. He is about to leave the job after the conclusion of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. The former wicket-keeper has tried his best to form a team and build camaraderie among the players. It would be interesting to see which tactics he applies for the marquee tournament.
