ICC T20 World Cup 2022: Tim David Should Be In Australia XI For The Showpiece Event, Feel Adam Gilchrist, Mark Waugh

Legendary Australia National Cricket Team players Adam Gilchrist and Mark Waugh believe that the Singapore-born Australian explosive batter Tim David should be in Australia playing XI for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022.

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 is the eighth edition of the multi-nation tournament. The marquee tournament is scheduled to commence on October 16 with the group stage round. The Super 12 round will commence on October 22 and the summit clash is set to take place on November 13 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Tim David made his debut for Australia in the three-match T20I series against India National Cricket Team. In the first two games, he registered scores of 18 and 2. However, in the third game, he played a fantastic knock. Tim David smashed 54 runs off 27 balls, including 2 fours and 4 sixes.

Tim David should have a place in that XI – Adam Gilchrist

David is part of the 15-member squad of the Australia National Cricket Team for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022. Gilchrist feels that David should also have a place in the playing XI.

“Tim David should have a place in that XI,” Fox Cricket commentator Gilchrist was quoted as saying by ICC. 

“His power and the way he has taken it on…and seeing what we have seen from him over the last 18 months all around the world, it is really in all different conditions and they (opposition teams) will fear him coming in.

“It is a role that Australia have never really tried to fill, having someone who knows they are only going to get 15 or 20 balls (to make an impact).”

Meanwhile, Waugh also had David in his best Australia playing XI.

“I have got Tim David in the XI at this stage,” Waugh said. “That could change with form, but that looks a pretty good side to me,” he added.

Gilchrist said that Marcus Stoinis should make the way for David in the playing XI and Waugh opined that David should replace Smith in the XI.

“Marcus Stoinis seems to be the man under pressure at the moment,” Gilchrist said. “But I think David should have a place in that XI. Unfortunately, that best XI is going to have 12 players in it and I don’t know who I am going to leave out,” he added.
