ICC T20 World Cup 2022: Want Him To Bowl- Ex-India All-Rounder On Bhuvneshwar Kumar's Role In T20 World Cup

BCCI has made headlines by naming T20 World Cup 202 Squad. The squad has a big omission in the form of Shami who has been dropped from the main squad. India’s pace attack looks like a force to reckon with as they have got Bhuvneshwar Kumar & Jasprit Bumrah. They have got the likes of Harshal Patel & Arshdeep Singh who have shown temperament.

It would be interesting to see which role Bhuvneshwar plays as he was brutally thrashed by Pakistan & Sri Lanka in the death overs. There is no doubt that he can take 2-3 wickets upfront and inflict a lot of damage. The management may use him in the middle over phase as a surprise element.

Irfan Pathan on Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Irfan Pathan was seen having an interaction with Star Sports. “Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh and Harshal Patel, these three will solve your problem of bowling 5 overs at the death. It is quite understandable that once you return from an injury, you take some time but you will get the game time as you are playing against Australia and South Africa before the World Cup.”

“You will get that quality time, India’s problem of bowling at the death has been relatively solved with the addition of these three. You can bowl Chahal for one over at the death, you can use Bhuvneshwar Kumar as well but I would want him to bowl more with the new ball.” he added.

Third Seamer Conundrum for Management

There is no doubt that Harshal Patel & Arshdeep Singh have been stand-out performers for team India. Harshal in particular has been fantastic with the slower balls & off-cutters. Arshdeep on the other side has been ruthless and has shown a lot of courage. It would be quite a tough decision to leave one of them from the playing 11 as both are wicket-taker bowlers.

We have seen how much India suffers at the back end of the innings where bowlers aren’t able to execute Yorkers on a consistent basis. Batters most likely will play out Bumrah and target the other one which is quite dangerous. Hardik Pandya can be an option at the death but that doesn’t sound promising as his performance is topsy-turvy.
