IND vs ENG: "England Have Got To Have Mark Wood Bowling All Four Of His Overs To Virat Kohli And Suryakumar Yadav": Brad Hogg

Brad Hogg, a former Australian spinner, believes that England captain Jos Buttler should attempt to employ Mark Wood‘s four-over period when Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav are on the crease. The top-ranked batting duo has been outstanding for Team India as they advanced to the knockout rounds of the T20 World Cup 2022.
Fast and bouncy surfaces found in Australia have provided Mark Wood with the ideal stage on which to display his abilities. He started the competition in Perth, where he bowled his whole four-over period with a velocity of above 140 kmph on a hot surface.
In the Super 12 stage, Mark Wood went on to record the tournament’s fastest delivery at an astounding 156 kmph.
Mark Wood Should Be Used For His Extra Pace On The Adelaide Wicket: Brad Hogg
Hogg claimed on his YouTube channel that England could dismiss Kohli if they persuaded him to play square of the wicket more frequently:
“England have got to have Wood bowling all four of his overs to Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav. When he is bowling to Kohli, he needs to try and have a gap very square on the shorter side and try to get him to play squarer rather than playing in the V.”
Hogg continued:
“With his extra pace, the Adelaide pitch just skids a little more than the other surfaces. You might be able to get Kohli lbw or bowled when he is playing square.”
However, Mark Wood is questionable for the approaching semi-final match against India. Along with Dawid Malan, who is also not expected to play owing to a groyne injury received against Sri Lanka, the right-arm bowler pulled up during practice and is currently being evaluated.
In the meantime, Kohli’s romance with the location endured as he was named Player of the Match for his efforts against Bangladesh in a game that was postponed due to rain.
India Can Capitalize And Get An Extra 20 Or 30 Odd Runs On The Board In Death Overs: Brad Hogg
Team India has so far been more than outstanding in the tournament’s death overs. From Kohli’s valiant efforts against Pakistan to Suryakumar’s unconventional masterpiece against Zimbabwe, India has been at its best with the bat in the closing overs so far.
Meanwhile, Sam Curran has undoubtedly been England’s strongest asset on offence. His constant success in the death over has allowed England to bolster their batting lineup rather than using Chris Jordan as a second specialist.
Hogg believes that although the left-arm all-rounder has taken 10 wickets in the competition so far, he will be destroyed if he runs across a settled Hardik Pandya or Suryakumar. Former player’s statement:
“Sam Curran has got a good economy rate in the death overs, but he has not bowled much to the top six batters in the tournament so far.”
Hogg continued:
“So, if Kohli or Suryakumar Yadav is there till the back end with someone like a Hardik Pandya, then India can capitalise and get an extra 20 or 30 odd runs on the board.”
On Thursday, November 10, at the Adelaide Oval, the second semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2022 will feature a match between India and England.
