IND vs ENG: "If Rishabh Pant Had Done Well, He Would Have Replaced Dinesh Karthik In Semi-Finals"- Andy Flower

Indian Cricket Team registered a thumping victory over Zimbabwe in their last group-stage match. In this match, the team brought back Rishabh Pant and gave a rest to Dinesh Karthik. Rishabh Pant couldn’t make an impact with the bat in hand as he was dismissed for 3 runs.
The Men in Blue would be ecstatic after their performance in Group Stage as they showed a lot of fighting spirit. The management thought would be worried about the batting collapse which took place against South Africa as such sort of performance in the Semi-Finals can be risky.
Andy Flower on Rishabh Pant
Andy Flower was seen interacting with ESPNcricinfo and was asked about Rishabh Pant. “If Rishabh would have done well, he would have definitely been in the semi-finals. India have abundant batting talent sitting in the sidelines, and that puts pressure on the selectors. There is constant talk around these talented batters who do not get a chance to bat in the middle and Pant is one of those players and the step was about giving him a sniff,” said Andy Flower.
Conundrum for Management
The management would be well aware of the fact that how dangerous Rishabh Pant can be in the middle overs phase. The left-handed batter has the knack of changing the dynamics of the game in a couple of overs. Pant is someone who will make his start count which makes him a dangerous asset.
On the other hand, Dinesh Karthik is known for his finishing abilities. We had seen how he struggled against South Africa as he is not used to bat in the middle overs. It would be interesting to see what decision the management takes as both the players can take the game away from the opponent.
