IND vs ENG: "Old-fashioned India Were Way Too Timid"- Nasser Hussain

Indian Cricket Team got a proper hammering from the hands of Jos Buttler and Alex Hales in the Semi-Final. The Men in Blue would be astounded by this defeat as they were completely outdone by England. It won’t be wrong to say that the likes of Bhuvneshwar & Shami looked a bit tired.
Alex Hales scored 86 runs in 47 balls whereas Jos Buttler scored 80 runs in 49 balls. The duo was quite brilliant with the bat and they weren’t afraid to take down any bowler. The peculiarity of the run chase was that they rotated the strike on a consistent basis due to which the bowlers were frustrated.
Nasser Hussain on India
Nasser Hussain was seen writing in his column ‘The Daily Mail’ and made some strong remarks on the Indian Cricket Team. “The contrast between the two teams in their respective power plays could not be more stark. I had said in these pages that India at the top of the order still play a bit of an old-fashioned game and even their former coach Ravi Shastri talked of the need for them to change when he worked for Sky last summer.” said Nasser Hussain.
“Yet they were still too timid. India must have known they would need to get an above-par score against this England batting line-up yet they plodded along and if it was not for Hardik at the end they would have been way below par.” he added.
Questionable Approach
The Men in Blue defensive approach hasn’t been fruitful. It was quite surprising to see Rohit Sharma play defensively as earlier he had stated that India has adopted a fearless approach as their triumphs in England and West Indies were quite effective.
Head Coach Rahul Dravid and Skipper Rohit Sharma would be regretting their tactics as the Adelaide Pitch was a run fest. Any score around 190 runs would have given India a psychological advantage. The Selection Panel will have to make sure that they take some tough calls if India wants to win the next T20 World Cup 2024.
