Virat Kohli’s brilliant knock helped India beat Pakistan by four wickets in their ICC T20 World Cup 2022 opening match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday, October 23, in front of 90,000 boisterous fans. The former Indian captain scored an unbeaten 82 runs off 53 balls to anchor a 160-run chase that became tricky after India was reduced to 31 for 4.
The 33-year-old smashed a six off a waist-high length delivery in the final over against Mohammad Nawaz and it ended up being declared a no-ball. A late decision by the umpires to declare a no-ball led to controversy.
Some former cricketers felt that the decision made by the umpire was wrong, while others suggested they should have consulted the TV umpire. James Neesham has come up with a hilarious suggestion to determine the waist-high no-balls.
“Suggestion: Every player gets their waist height measured pre-tournament then Hawkeye just tells us whether a full toss is below or above that mark,” wrote Neesham on Twitter with a laughing emoji.

The Men in Blue required 16 runs to win off six balls, and Hardik Pandya got out on the very first ball of the final over against Pakistan. When India needed 13 runs off 3 balls, Virat Kohli hit a six off a waist-high length delivery and the umpire signaled a no-ball for a high full-toss.
Arshdeep Singh became the first bowler to dismiss two Pakistan openers in the same innings before restricting Pakistan to 159/8. The 23-year-old trapped Pakistan captain Babar Azam for a golden duck and got rid of Mohammad Rizwan.
Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah gave Pakistan the perfect start by dismissing Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Suryakumar Yadav early on. Kohli and Hardik Pandya made an excellent partnership of 113 runs for the fifth wicket and led the team to victory. Pandya ended his spell with 3/30 in four overs and scored 40 off 37 balls with the bat. India successfully chased down the 160-run target against Pakistan with 4 wickets in hand.
