IND vs PAK: If India Wins Against Pakistan, They Will Win The T20 World Cup: Suresh Raina

Suresh Raina, a former Indian batter, gave an exclusive interview to NDTV in which he discussed India’s chances at the World Cup. As per Raina, if India can defeat Pakistan, they will win the tournament.

The first group stage of the T20 World Cup, from which four teams will advance to the Super-12 stage, is currently being played in Australia. The Melbourne Cricket Ground match between India and Pakistan is scheduled for October 23.

“Definitely, if we win the opening game against Pakistan, we will win the World Cup,” Raina told NDTV.

In response to a question about India’s likelihood of winning the competition, Suresh Raina stated: “The team is doing well right now. Shami has replaced Bumrah, it will give the side a bit of X-factor. We have Arshdeep Singh and Suryakumar Yadav. Everyone is in good form, and Virat Kohli is looking really good. Rohit Sharma is a very good leader, if we win the first match, it will set a good tone for us.”

After being selected as Jasprit Bumrah’s replacement last week, Mohammed Shami proved his mettle by taking three wickets in the final over against Australia on Monday in a warm-up game. He conceded just four runs while holding the opposition to 10 runs in the final over, giving India a six-run victory.

“I wouldn’t call him a perfect replacement because you can’t replace Jasprit Bumrah or Ravindra Jadeja, who has played consistently for India and given performances, but he was the best option you had,” Suresh Raina said.

“Shami has given good performances, and he has been in good form. The BCCI has done well in sending the team to Australia 15 days before the tournament. The grounds are large, and overall I think the preparation has been nice” Suresh Raina Added.

On Wednesday, Team India under Rohit will play against Kane Williamson’s New Zealand after defeating Australia. On October 23, at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, India will face Pakistan in the first game of the Super 12.
