Indian Cricket Team won a crucial toss in the high-voltage clash. India has chosen Mohammed Shami over Harshal Patel in the playing 11 which can raise a lot of eyebrows. Harshal Patel has been a consistent bowler since the conclusion of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021.

India would be hoping that they can take revenge for their 2021 defeat where they were completely outplayed by Pakistan. This India looks well prepared for the clash as the team looks like a rejuvenated one. Pakistan on the other hand would be aware that their middle-order batters need to step up.

Anil Kumble on Mohammed Shami

Anil Kumble was having an interaction with ESPNcricinfo and was asked about Shami. “I think most importantly, the reason that Shami is ahead of Harshal Patel is to get wickets up front,” said Kumble

“That’s what Rohit will be hoping for. With Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami to get a couple of wickets early on,”  added Kumble.

Great Opportunity for Mohammed Shami

The experienced veteran would be roaring to make a statement that he is not done yet. The pacer had shown in the warm-up match against Australia that he still has great control over line and length. It would be interesting to see in how many spells Rohit uses Shami as he has the knack for changing the game quickly.

Head Coach Rahul Dravid would be aware that he has taken the big decision of leaving out Harshal Patel. Harshal Patel is renowned for his death bowling as he knows how to dupe the batters with his tricky variations. It would be interesting to see whether Shami excels on the big stage as he is playing his first T20I match after T20 World  Cup 2021.
