The T20 World Cup is currently in full swing, with Namibia defeating Sri Lanka and Scotland defeating the West Indies in recent qualifiers. On Saturday, Australia and New Zealand will face off to kick off the Super 12 stage.

On October 23, Team India will face Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground to start their campaign. The team led by Rohit Sharma and co. got off to a winning start in their Pre World Cup match on Monday, defeating the reigning champions Australia.

Sunil Gavaskar Picks India And Australia As His Favorites For T20 World Cup 2022

Both Australia and India have been selected as the two finals, according to former all-rounder Tom Moody and former India captain Sunil Gavaskar. 

“India, definitely. And because I am in Australia so I am going to say Australia,” Gavaskar said on Star Sports before the warm-up match between India and Australia on Monday.

Talking about the same, Moody said: “I am going to give you the top four. Australia, and England will go through from their group. I think Pakistan and India would be leading the other group. The finalists, I have to say Australia and India.”

Meanwhile, India beat Australia by six runs in the World Cup practice match played on Monday in Brisbane. India scored a total of 186 runs for 7 wickets before the Australian squad was dismissed for 180 runs. 

Mohammed Shami, a bowler, took three wickets for only four runs in the last over. KL Rahul scored 57 runs for India, while Suryakumar Yadav scored 50 runs in 33 deliveries. Skipper Aaron Finch scored 76 runs in 54 balls.

Virat Kohli was in spectacular form in the field. In addition to taking a spectacular catch at long-on to eliminate Pat Cummins, Virat Kohli also caught Tim David short of his crease with a stunning direct smash earlier in the game. 

On Wednesday at the Gabba in Brisbane, India will play New Zealand in their final World Cup warm-up match.
