Hardik Pandya, an Indian all-rounder, had a cheeky response to a broadcaster after the toss of India vs. Pakistan’s T20 World Cup match when asked if he would bowl or not.
The 16th match of the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 places the Babar Azam-led Pakistan National Cricket Team against the India National Cricket Team, which is led by Rohit Sharma. On Sunday, October 23, the tantalizing high-stakes match will take place at the storied Melbourne Cricket Ground.
The focus will be on all-rounder Hardik Pandya when India plays Pakistan in their T20 World Cup opener in Melbourne, especially with veteran Ravindra Jadeja out. The Gujarat Titans (GT) captain’s decision on whether or not to bowl against Babar Azam’s team will also be closely watched by supporters and detractors, and it appears that Pandya has provided an update.
India will be hoping to get off to a winning start in the T20 World Cup after their disappointing showing in 2017. India was eliminated from the T20 World Cup last year after losing to Pakistan in the tournament’s shocking opening match.
“We have worked very hard to come here”: Hardik Pandya
A reporter asked Pandya if he would bowl after the toss, and Pandya responded, “Have many fond memories here, I made my T20I debut in Australia, and from there the journey has continued. It’s good to be back here, you can’t get a better place to play sport and enjoy. The body is fine, I think you should put that topic about my body on rest, you will see me bowling.”
In addition, he added his assessment of the game: “We are playing international cricket; the Pakistani bowlers are not the only factor. At this level, every team will have top-notch bowling because international cricket has a set of standards. As a result, we have talked about it as a batting unit and we are all aware of it. To get here, we have put in a lot of effort. The contest is won by the team that plays its best.”
India will be aiming to begin their T20 World Cup campaign on a winning note, especially after their poor performance last year.
