Former India National Cricket Team captain and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president, Sourav Ganguly, ahead of India’s T20 World Cup 2022 opener against Pakistan, has said that the Men In Blue are favourites to win the tournament and there is no point in discussing past performances.
The Virat Kohli-led Team India failed to make it to the semi-finals of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 in UAE after facing back-to-back defeats against Pakistan and New Zealand.

Meanwhile, in their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 opener, the Rohit Sharma-led India National Cricket Team are all set to go head-to-head with Babar Azam-led Pakistan National Cricket Team in a mouth-watering clash on October 23 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
In a brief interaction with India Today, former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly said:
“What happened before, there is no point discussing that. India will be one of the favourites to win the tournament. In World Cup the fight is completely different. Those teams who will play well in those two-three weeks will make the mark.”
I will choose India, South Africa, Australia, and England – Sourav Ganguly picks T20 World Cup 2022 semi-finalists
Sourav Ganguly further picked India, South Africa, Australia and England as his semi-finalists for this year’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022. He said that the Proteas are one of the favourites to win the championship because they have got a strong bowling unit.
“I will choose India, South Africa, Australia, and England. South Africa is a good bowling side and that will be a factor in Australia,” the former India captain said.
While talking about India National Cricket Team, Sourav Ganguly said:
“Look, it’s hard to say before but we have a good side. Big hitters are there. In T20 format form is very crucial in those hours.”
