Indian Cricket Team has dealt with a lot of injuries. Jasprit Bumrah, Deepak Chahar & Ravindra Jadeja all are out of the tournament. The absence of Jadeja & Bumrah will hurt India a lot. The Men in Blue would be bothered as Bumrah could have been effective in Australian conditions.

Indian Cricket team has gone to Australia early to get used to the conditions. The team recently played a practice match and is looking ominous. The team would be hoping that they start well; in the last edition, they had lost their opener against Pakistan which proved to be quite a setback.

Wasim Akram on Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Wasim Akram was seen interacting with reporters and was asked about Bhuvneshwar Kumar. “India have Bhuvneshwar Kumar, he is good with the new ball, but with that pace, if the ball is not swinging, he will probably struggle there. But he is a very good bowler no doubt, swings both ways, has the yorker. But you need pace in Australia. It’s in Australia. The Australians will probably play well, they have a good bowling attack, they know those pitches.”

“India have a good batting line-up. But they still haven’t named Bumrah’s replacement. Pakistan, their middle-order is struggling. If the middle-order clicks, Pakistan have a very good bowling attack and one of the best opening pairs. So if they can control the middle-order, they have a chance.” added Akram.

Conundrum for Management

Head coach Rahul Dravid and Skipper Rohit Sharma would be aware of the high voltage clash. As mentioned by Akram, the pitches in Australia would be fast; in that case, India should select Shami as the replacement for Bumrah. The experienced campaigner would thrive in Australian Conditions.

India would be hoping that they peak at the right time. It would be interesting to see how the team fares in Australian conditions as long boundaries would mean that hitting sixes won’t be easy. India may have to change their batting approach as going an all-out attack won’t be sustainable.
